Fiber Painting on different Surfaces Silk Scarf and a Painting (Level +1/2)
Level 1+ beginners with basic felting skills
Level 2 – preintermediate
If you are a beginner or it is your first contact with felting I suggest taking part in my Flower Brooch classes and than continue with the next levels.

Flowers, flowers… so fregile, delicate and vulnerable.
They live only for a very short time but we can find out a way to keep them forever using only wool and silk fibers. It is not easy but possible! I am going to teach you how to make your eternal private flower garden using techniques similar to watercolor painting.
To participate +basic or intermediate felting experience required from a candidate.
Lesson 1 Painting with wool and silk fibers on a woollen surface – textile watercolours.
Ready product: A felt collar, wall hanging or picture.

Lesson 2 Painting with wool and silk fibers on a pure silk surface.
Ready product: A silk scarf with a floral pattern.
Date: 16th April 2023 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

LIST OF MATERIALS AND TOOLS PICTURE
Wool and silk:
- Felt base: extra fine merino wool in tops (19 microns or thinner) light colour: white, light grey, green, blue etc or if you prefer dark background you can choose other colours – total 50 grams to make a prefelt.
- Painting: background fine Australian Merino Wool in Cap (a very short-fiber wool) microns 16 preferably but you can also use 18,19) a total of about 10 grams. If you do not have it you can also tear the long fibers into shorter ones.
- Flowers and grasses extra fine merino wool in tops – long fibers, total about 10 grams.
You can choose a colour you like depending on the kind of flower you want to paint but be prepared to have at least three different shades of the main colour for a flower and three shades for grasses (green, brown, yellow etc.)
- Silk fibers in black, green, red, yellow, blue – just to decorate (total 2 grams)
- Little pieces of different yarns, threads – to decorate
Tools:
- Sharp Scissors,
- IKEA Mat Variera (with dots) it’s not an obligation, but might be practical to work on, you can replace it with a Piece of Bubble Wrap on your table
- Ruler
- A block of drawing paper, a pencil and some crayons/ optional some watercolours and brushes
- Chopstick or Wooden Stick
- Permanent marker
- Bowl for Water
- Hand Soap
- Towel
- Bubble Wrap for rubbing 2x (40 x 90 cm) = (x inches)
- Synthetic Kitchen Cloth to absorb the Water
- A tiny Mesh (net) for covering the painting during the massage. (20 x 20 cm)=(8 x 8 inches)
- A tiny Piece of Cotton Cloth for rolling (e.g. an old piece of Sheet) (40 x 90 cm)=( x inches)
- 2 felting needle
- needle felting brush/mat,
- iron or steamer,
- frame – optional if you decide to make a picture with a frame
- Sticky tape.

LIST OF MATERIALS AND TOOLS SILK SCARF WITH A FLORAL PATTERN
Wool and silk:
- Base : silk fabric ponge 3,5 (so thin that you can easily see your fingers through it) white or in any light colour you like. Dimension: 60 X 180 cm/ 24 X 71 inches. You can also decide to make a dark background if you wish.
- Felt base: extra fine merino wool in tops,16 microns preferably but you can also use 18, 19) a total of about 50 grams in the colour similar to the base silk fabric mentioned above.
- Flowers and grasses extra fine merino wool in tops – long fibers, corded and cammed. Total about 50-60 grams. You can choose a colour you like depending on the kind of flower you want to make but be prepared to have at least three different shades of the main colour for a flower and three shades for grasses (green, brown, yellow etc.) You can have more colours to enrich your painting.
- Silk fibers in black, green, red, yellow, blue , etc. to decorate (total 2 grams)
- Little pieces of different yarns or threads to decorate.
Tools:
- Big table or a flat surface you can work on
- Sharp Scissors,
- IKEA Mat Variera (with dots) it’s not an obligation, but might be practical to work on, you can replace it with a Piece of Bubble Wrap on your table
- Ruler
- Callipers to draw circles
- A block of drawing paper, a pencil, some crayons/ optional some watercolors and brushes.
- Chopstick or Wooden Stick
- Permanent marker
- Bowl for Water
- Hand Soap
- Towel
- Bubble Wrap for rubbing 2x (80 x 200 cm) = (30 x 80 inches)
- Synthetic Kitchen Cloth to absorb the Water
- A tiny Mesh (net) for covering the painting during the rubbing process. (50 x 50 cm) = (20 x 20 inches)
- A tiny Piece of Cotton Cloth for rolling (e.g. an old piece of Sheet) (80 x 80 cm) = ( 30 x 30 inches)
- iron or steamer.
- needle and thread in the colour of the base silk fabric.
- Optional pool swim noodle for rolling – a cylindrical piece of polyethylene

In both courses you will learn or improve:
- basic felting techniques as well as more advanced ones,
- making a woolen base, prefelt
- basic knowledge of a good composition, using colours,shades and gradients,
- designing and scatching your image,
- layering out a fiber image on woolen and silk surfaces
- using special effects in felting,
- finishing proces eg. Collar, scarf, wall hanging
- shaping, folding and fixing the image in a frame (optional).
- The cost of one meeting – you can choose one or two lessons but I would recommend both of them because the skills you are going to learn differ in both classes.Moreover on the second day we are going to use the knowledge and skills from the first day. If you are interested in both days pay the costs of the course doble.
- The number of participants is limited because for me it is important to be in contact with each of you during this artistic process.
- You can follow the workshops live on ZOOM app, which is easy to download for free. You can use any of your digital medium a desktop or a smartphone.
- The workshops are available on 15th/16th April 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or the morning meeting 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Central Europian Time) in English. (If you live in a different time zone please convert your time using this https://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/
- 5. You can enter the lesson at 5.30 p.m. or 9.30 a.m.to check your connection. I will be there in case you have any problems.
- Access to the recording made after the zoom workshops for owners of gmail email addresses. After enrolling the right to share the image and publish materials from lessons prohibited.
- Free consultation on Zoom ( the date will be arranged together with all the participants).
- On Friday the 14th April 2023 you will get on your email the link and the code to our live online meeting on Zoom.

After receiving your payment I will confirm your participation on your emails as soon as possible up to 24 hours.
If you want me to supply the materials ( without tools and a frame) the cost is 12 USD for a picture and 45 USD for a silk scarf plus shipping costs. Take into consideration the time of shipping. For America it is at least 2 weeks in advance. To order materials please CONTACT or visit my shop.

CANCELLATION
For 1 day events no cancellation is possible!
If you can’t join the event you signed in for, you may join it on another date.
For two and more day workshops a cancellation is possible up to 21 days before the beginning of the workshop. Your deposit fee will be reimbursed less a fee of 50 USD.
Less than 21 days before the workshop, the deposit won’t be refund but you may attend the workshop on another date.
